The soundscape for 100 Chawan exhibition with Linda Chambers and Collyn Gawned
Invited to create a soundscape – and directed by the artist’s strong vision for the exhibition, artworks, and installation – I began by recording in each of their studio spaces.
The soundscape for the 100 Chawan exhibition is composed of six parts, each representing the elements identified by Linda Chambers and Collyn Gawned as significant to their project.
These raw recordings of the ‘making’ process, combined with sound from my own library and shaped through many in-depth conversations, formed the basis for a six-part composition. Each section is separated by moments of quiet, offering space and contrast, in keeping with the exhibition’s carefully considered aesthetic.
